Description
Scarce vintage 1980 Greco ‘Super Real’ Japanese Jaguar in hard to find Candy Apple Red finish with matching headstock. Only a small number of these amazing guitars were built back in ‘79/80 by Greco as Jags & Jazzmasters were still pretty much the most unloved guitars on the planet back then. It's an incredibly well put together Jaguar as you'd imagine from FujiGen and is basically the prototype of the Fender Japan Jaguar. These were the forerunners of Fender Japan’s Jaguar production, a full 2 years before FujiGen was granted the Fender license. Most of these Greco Jags were Sunburst, only a small number of Candy Apple Reds with the matching headstocks have ever surfaced. It has an ash body, maple neck and a good quality rosewood fingerboard with very little fret wear. It is the cleanest vintage Greco Jaguar we have ever come across. Weight 4.2kg. Function and aesthetics are the same as the later Fender JG66 models aside from a few differences: one being that the Rhythm Circuit on/off switch works in reverse, engaging the circuit in the Down position and reverting to the Lead Circuit in the Up position. It also has an ash body instead of alder, a V-shaped neck profile carve, silver Rhythm Circuit rollers, a wide bevel white pickguard, and flat pole pickups that have a particularly full sound. Dead straight neck, truss rod fine, plenty of life left in the frets. No issues whatsoever either electrically on structurally. A very rare guitar, especially in this finish.

We carefully hand-select all our guitars and refuse a lot more than we accept, if they don’t blow us away on all fronts, we just don’t put them in our shop; if it’s for sale by Gas Station Guitars, you know it’d gonna be pretty special.  All pictures are of the actual guitars, we do not use stock photos. NOT FOR TRADE or part exchange, thanks. We ship to the E.U, Europe, U.S, Canada, Australia, NZ and of course the UK.
