This is a very nice 1963 Gretsch G6122 "Chet Atkins Country Gentleman" double cutaway Electrotone closed body semi-acoustic in Walnut Brown!

It has the famous "Neo Classic" Maple neck Ebony fingerboard, Half Moon position markers, correct and original bone nut, and zero fret. The nut width is 43mm. The frets have plenty of life left in them and are nicely polished, It is also a great guitar to play, with a very good setup. The truss rod has been check and works well.

The original Filter'Tron pickups, Patent number 2892371 are really punchy and deliver that classic Gretch tone, It has a three-way pickup selector switch alongside its tone selector switch, two volume controls a master volume, and a standby switch. All the electronics are original. The back pad is original and all the fixing studs work as they should.

The Walnut Brown body has the correct painted "F" holes and its original Gretsch//Bigsby Gold Vibrato unit,

There are numerous marks and dings accumulated over the years but all in keeping with its age. The guitar has been "blacklight" tested and there is no evidence of any repairs. Some of the edge binding has shrunk slightly, but it is secure and in position, unlike many of this vintage.

The twin large knob damper mechanism works, but the foam has perished and would need to be replaced to use this feature.

The headstock features the Gretsch T-roof logo and the metal nameplate displays " Chet Atkins Country Gentleman" The serial number is 57417 which dates this instrument to 1963,

All in all, this is a very nice example of a legendary guitar made in a golden period of Gretch guitar production and made famous by many influential musicians.
