Product Details
1960s Original Burns made Bladwin badged Split Sound electric guitar. Made in England.
Black finish with chrome hardware.
This is a really cool looking instrument with the exaggeated body horns, large tremolo unit with original cover and arm and 3 x Burns Split sound pickups.
It features a 4 way pickup selector switch which gives an array of tones from the Jim Burns designed split coil pickups.
- Wild Dog - Kind of thin , out of phase skinny sound which is nothing like its name - go figure. Middle and Treble pickups out of phase.
- Treble - pretty trebley sound from just the treble pickup
- Jazz - neck pickup only ,full bodied and useable tone.
- Split Sound - Kinda normal sounding but interestingly its the top half of the neck pickup and bottom half of the bridge.
It all so features original Van Ghent tuners and perspex headstock logo but the neck plate is a plain plastic replacement which is a shame as the original would have had the serial and patent numbers on it.
The split sound is a great looking guitar with obvious nods to other Burns guitars of the age such as the Bison, Sonic and Vibra Artist.
Its in very good used condition with some marks, minor indents, light scuffs and general signs of age, use and wear. There is crazing to the lacquer on the edges of the fretboard and in places to the body.
As far as we know its all original aside from the neck plate as previously mentioned.
Please see the pics as they make up part of the description.
The guitar plays nicely, the pickups are all working well and the master volume and tone controls work cleanly and well.
The strings are recent and the action and playability is good but you may wish to tweak / alter the set up once received.
Comes with non original hard case as pictured and will be well packaged and boxed for shipping.
